Fall 2025 Event
The Overlap Between Reading Disabilities and Speech Sound Disorders
Presented by Kelly Farquharson, PhD, CCC-SLP
Join us on November 7th, 2025 for a unique interactive workshop! Reading disabilities and speech sound disorders both involve the phonological system of language but manifest with different symptoms. In this workshop, we will discuss the ways in which these two manifestations are distinct from one another and the ways in which they overlap. This course will discuss the importance of in-depth and evidence-based assessment approaches to determine educational relevance for children with speech sound disorders. We will focus on evidence-based assessment to determine educational relevance for children with speech sound disorders and highlight how to identify risk factors for reading disabilities in these children. The course covers assessment tools, treatment, and service delivery options, emphasizing the connection between speech sound production and literacy.
This Workshop is Interactive! Please bring a children's book for your choice with you!
