Founded in the 1980’s, The Piedmont Speech and Hearing Consortium is a non-profit organization that was organized to support Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists in Upstate South Carolina. PSHC was developed by Ken Norton in 1989 beginning with a celebration for Better Speech and Hearing Month in May. The stated purpose of the Consortium was to share socially and professionally- a tradition that remains today. The new officers then scheduled 3 events for the 89-90 school year, with the May meeting designated again as a celebration for Better Speech and Hearing Month. This tradition has continued over the years and remains in place today. The Consortium continues to provide an average of 3 in-services or workshops each school year, with most offering ASHA CEUs.
